CWOSSA Country Results for BAA Athletes

BAA athletes performed extremely well at CWOSSA cross country held on October 26th at Bechtel Park in Waterloo.  Leading the way were Emily Bryce (SDSS) and Ethan Pentland (JDSS), who won the girls and boys Midget races.

Kincardine Wins BAA Sr. Girls’ Basketball

KDSS  continues to be the power of BAA Sr. Girls’ basketball, as the defeated OSDSS  39 – 30 to win the 2017 BAA title.  This is the Knights second BAA title in two years.   Ariel Luinstra  led all scorers with 14 points.

In the semi-finals, KDSS beat GHSS 52 – 26 and OSDSS beat SDSS 48 – 16.

Kincardine moves on to the  A CWOSSA tournament (which they are hosting) on November 17/18.  The Knights are also defending CWOSSA champions.

Walkerton District Wins BAA Jr Girls’ Basketball

WDCS captured the 2017 BAA Jr girls championship, beating SMHS 41 – 24.   It was a back a forth first half, with the Riverhawks holding a slight edge going into half time.   WDCS used strong trapping defence to increase their lead in the third quarter, and then pulled away in the fourth.

In the semi-finals WDCS beat PSDS 50  – 24, while SMHS beat KDSS (in overtime)  25 – 22.

The Riverhawks have qualified  for A CWOSSA on November 17/18 in Walkerton and Kincardine.

St. Mary’s Wins BAA Jr. Boys’ Volleyball

St. Mary’s junior boys captured  their first BAA volleyball championships yesterday at SHHS.   In the semi-finals the SMHS defeated SDSS 3 – 2, while WDCS defeated GBCS 3 – 0.    The two top BAA Jr boys’ teams then battled in the finals, with the Mustangs coming away with a 3 – 1 win.

Sacred Heart Wins BAA Sr Boys’ Volleyball

In a very competitive day of volleyball,  the Sr Crusaders took advantage of home court to capture the 2017 BAA title.    SHHS defeated GHSS 3-2 in one semi-final, while OSDSS defeated KDSS 3 – 0 in the other semi-final.  This set up the final featuring the number one team from the south and the number one team from the north.    A strong alumni presence in the gym for SHHS helped the Crusaders beat the Wolves 3 – 1.

SHHS moves on to the AA CWOSSA championship on November 15/16 at Simcoe Composite School.

OSDSS moves on to the AAA CWOSSA championship on November 23/25 at the University of Waterloo.

St. Mary’s Wins BAA Football

SMHS won their 4th consecutive BAA Football championship on Friday, November 3rd.  The Mustangs defeated OSDSS  8 – 0.  Both teams played strong defensive games.   Robbie Monague’s 40 yard touch down run proving to be the deciding score.

SMHS host St. Benedict’s C.S.S. (Waterloo) on Friday, November 10th in a CWOSSA  quarter final.    Kick off is at 2 pm.

SMHS defend Cross Country Titles

St. Mary’s High School retained their fourth straight BAA Cross Country Championship at Sawmill Trails on Thursday, October 19th.    The Mustangs swept all three categories:  Girls, Boys, and Combined Overall.

Nolan Smith Wins CWOSSA Tennis

October 20th, 2017

Northfield Raquet Club, Waterloo

Georgian Bay Community School  Gr 9 student  Nolan Smith, won the 2017 CWOSSA open level boys’ singles tennis title.   Nolan beat a Cameron Heights student,  8  –  4  in the championship match.    Nolan advances to the OFSAA Championship,  June 4-6, 2018,  in Toronto.

St. Mary’s Wins BAA Baseball

St. Mary’s,  Georgian Bay, Kincardine, and John Diefenbaker competed for the BAA Baseball championship yesterday.   In the semi-finals SMHS defeated KDSS  and GBCS defeated JDSS.    The final game between St. Mary’s and Georgian Bay was a great game of baseball.   The all north final was back and forth.   The championship was decided in the the final  inning of play.    St. Mary’s now advances to the CWOSSA playoffs in the spring.

BAA North Baseball

The BAA north baseball tournament was hosted by Georgian Bay Community School today.  It was a great day of baseball.

St. Mary’s H.S. and Georgian Bay C.S.  advance to the BAA championship on Tuesday, October 10th.
